Committees

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee is chaired by Dr. Kathryn Meyer, Director of School Services and Chief Financial Officer, and meets once a month before every board meeting. This committee is responsible for the oversight of the annual budget as well as financial recommendations to the SCA Board of Directors. Members of this committee are selected.

 

Sunshine Committee

The purpose of the Sunshine Committee at Swallows Charter Academy is to encourage and support SCA staff both at school and in their personal lives as expected and unexpected life events occur. Examples of this support include baby showers, wedding showers, and meals for deaths, extended illness, or major surgeries. This committee meets once a quarter over Zoom. Please contact Deanna Storm at dstorm@ditrict70.org if you are interested in attending meetings.

 

Calendar Committee

The calendar committee is comprised of parents, teachers, staff, and a Board member.  This committee facilitates and determines the recommended calendar for the upcoming school year.  Once finalized in committee, they present the recommended option to the Board of Directors for consideration and final approval.  Calendars are usually finalized by January of each year, and presented to the Board no later than March.  Once approved, they are placed on the website for easy reference.  This committee is led by Dr. Compton and the meetings are held between October and January as needed.

 

Safety Committee

Prevention of human and economic losses from personal injury and property damage.

Prevention of losses from fire and theft.

Ensuring the safety, protection, and well-being of students and staff.

 

 

Spartan Boosters Mission:

The Mission of the Spartan Boosters is to promote an atmosphere that is consistent with the educational philosophy, history, and tradition of excellence of the Pueblo West community by providing Swallows Charter Academy with financial assistance and encouraging active involvement with SCA extra-curricular programs based on a foundation of integrity and mutual respect.

Goals: To support, promote, and maintain a high standard of integrity and good sportsmanship in all athletic activities associated with SCA. To promote and encourage better attendance to all activities by the parents, alumni, athletes, students, faculty, and staff of SCA. To promote and encourage more students at SCA to get involved in athletics, activities and clubs, either as an active participant or as a volunteer. To raise funds to assist all extra-curricular programs through the efforts of the booster volunteers working for the operation of concession stands, selling advertisements, tickets, donation or any other legitimate method that shall be determined

Assist SCA staff in the areas of sports promotion, publicity, and program development.

Organize and stage special events and projects.

Assist in keeping down expenses of the athletic and activities department by volunteering for SCA events.

 

Accountability Committee

The SCA accountability collects and analyzes student performance data and determines strengths and weaknesses.  After thorough analysis, the committee will make a recommendation to the budget committee on items or programs that will help increase student achievement at SCA.

Wellness Committee

The SCA School Health committee is comprised of teachers, administrators, parents community members, law enforcement, and health professionals. The task of the committee is to advise the school on matters concerning the health and wellbeing of our staff and students.
